The Oakville native and rookie Ontario Hockey League defenceman was traded yesterday (Thursday) by the Sudbury Wolves to the Mississauga Steelheads. Trevor Carrick, a 19-year-old Carolina Hurricanes prospect who is sixth among OHL defencemen in scoring, was the main player that went the other way in the deal. Leblanc, 17, scored three goals and added 13 assists in 38 games for Sudbury. He spent last year with the Ontario Junior Hockey League's Oakville Blades, collecting 33 points -- including 29 assists -- in 49 games. "Stefan is a quality young defenceman in our league that we are excited to add to our hockey club," said Steelheads general manager and head coach James Boyd. The junior defender was selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Women's All-East Region squad, earning third-team accolades. Hudson's selection to the AllEast team came despite the fact she missed the final two games of the playoffs due to a spiral fracture to the fibula suffered in the quarterfinals. She was also the only Canadian named to any of the NSCAA all-conference teams. The post-season honours were the second this season for Hudson, who previously received AllCentral Atlantic Collegiate Conference first-team recognition. Hudson anchored a Holy Family defence that allowed the secondfewest goals in the conference and recorded 10 shutouts. She also earned a career-high six points, scoring two goals and assisting on two others.
