16 THE NEW TANNER Sports with The New Tanner period, Daniel Nascimento won a face-off deep in the Caledon zone to Jon Bydevaate, who roofed one past the Hawks goalie to tie the game up at one. That goal seemed to wake up the opposition, but thanks to some great goaltending by Ricky Villa, Caledon continued to be denied and the second period ended tied at one. Throughout the third period, both team exchanged good scoring chances. Just when it looked like Caledon had the edge, Ben Gray cleared the puck to Jack Kennedy who threw the puck at the net and Michael Holmes deflected it past the sprawling Hawks goalie to give Acton the lead. The Tanners defence, which consisted of Declan Harrison, Kyle MacDonald, Josh Hamilton and Gray, had to be sharp to ensure that Caledon didn't get the equalizer. With the Hawks goalie pulled in favour of an extra attacker, Nascimento picked up a lose puck and slid it into the empty cage to secure the Peewee BB Tanner's first regular season victory, 3-1. the boys back on track as they played two homes games on the weekend, winning 6-0 against the same Flyers, and 5-0 against Burlington. The defence of Brett Hilts, Zach Booth, Tyler Bartels, Tristan Wight and Roberto Ferraioli played solid, as Matthew Lantz and Connor Brearley earned shutouts. Spencer Booth lead the way against the Flyers, with a hat trick and one assist, while Eric Marrows scored two, on nice feeds from Jackson Phillips. Cree (1G, 1A), Ferraioli (1A), and Wight (1A) rounded out the scoring. Sunday saw a balanced attack as Zach Knight, Phillips, Rowsell, Brady Worthman and Wight scored with assists to Cree, Wight, Zach Booth, Stuart Macdonald and Brandon Hatt. Acton Tanners Peewee BB taste victory The HUB International-Tri Form Concrete Peewee BB Tanners had a slow start to their regular season until an encounter on Sunday with the Caledon Hawks. Acton came out flying and applied pressure throughout the first period. The Hawks goaltender was a stonewall that could not be beat. After a breakdown in the neutral zone, Caledon capitalized on its first opportunity and scored the only goal of the first period. The Tanners regrouped and early in the second Atom BB now 9-1 on season The TRENDZ/Dufferin Aggregate Atom BB Tanners faced Orangeville last week and after some bad bounces found themselves down 2-0 after the first period. The Tanners held the play in the Flyers' end for the next two periods, but could only muster a late goal by Nolan Cree, with assists to Spencer Booth and Gabe Rowsell. This 2-1 loss was the first of the season for Acton. Coach Adam Hilts got Notice is hereby given in accordance with the provisions of the Municipal Act, S.O. 2001, and Town of Halton Hills By-law 20030032 regarding the following temporary road closure for the purpose of the following community event: TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE DUE TO EVENT Tanners Peewee AE double Hespler On Monday, Hurricane Sandy wasn't the only thing that stormed into Hespler. The getconnected Tanners PeeWee AE team wasn't fazed by the weather and came out flying for a 4-2 win. An early and somewhat controversial penalty in the first few minutes didn't deter the boys as Dylan Palmer scored an unassisted short-handed goal to get out early. A few minutes later, Brian Secord on a breakaway, backhanded the second Tanners goal of the night. In the second period, Hespler scored twice. Goalie Owen Ferguson played a great game staring down a few breakaways along with some solid saves. The third period saw AP player Cam Shoebridge pop in a nice goal after some great stick handling near the net to take Tanners back into the lead. Some late penalties put the win in jeopardy and Hespler tried to capitalize by pulling their goalie. Acton pressed and Torin Martin scored on an empty net to put the game away with less than a minute to spare. Acton will be at home on Saturday to face Hespler again.
