The dulcet voice that made famous the phrase "It's worth the drive to Acton" has been silenced. Broadcaster Stu Holloway died at the Port Credit Marina on Monday night in what police were calling an Voice of Acton silenced "accidental drowning." Not only was Holloway the voice of the olde Hide House, he was associated with the company for nearly 30 years, he also acted as the town's tourism development officer, and sold leather furniture for four years. A pilot for more than 45 years, Holloway was the voice of the CNE air show, and had a natural interest in Flight Line, an aviationrelated olde Hide House's satellite store on Mill Street in Acton in the mid-1980s. Holloway's voice still welcomes shoppers at the Georgetown Market Place, and advised passengers at Pearson International Airport, where he was the airport's radio station manager. While Peel Police had not released the name of the victim whose body was spotted floating near the shoreline of Lake Ontario at 10 p.m. Monday night, a friend at the scene confirmed it was Holloway's body brought to dry land at 11 p.m. Holloway, who lived at the marina, was reportedly frail recently. The coroner and criminal investigation bureau continue the investigation.
