Self-defence class raises $5K for charity Horizon Taekwon-Do recently hosted a women's self-defence class that also raised $5,000 for charity. Approximately 40 women attended the class, which required participants to make donations to The Ride to Conquer Cancer. Krychowski made the announcement last week, citing a desire to concentrate more on his business career. "It's just time to step away. I need to focus more on other parts of my life," Krychowski said. "I've had a good run here, and I'm in no way done with volleyball. I'm just moving on from this chapter." Krychowski took over the Sheridan program in 2006 and the team's win total increased in each of his first five seasons. The Bruins have struggled this year, however, going 1-8 in the first semester, and will miss the Ontario College Athletic Associations playoffs for the first time in five years. "I am very understanding of Patrick's decision, just as I am appreciative of his efforts over the past few years," athletic director Jim Flack said. "To be a head coach in this league is no easy task. It is a high-stress environment that requires a lot of time in recruiting, preparation, practice, travel and games.
