Maria Luisa was born in Toritto, Bari, Italy April 30, 1916 and immigrated to Oakville with her husband Pietro and children in 1965. She came from a family of eight and leaves behind three siblings in Toritto, Italy; Vita Raguseo, Francesco Raguseo & Michele Raguseo, and one sister in Oakville Pina Pastore. She will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and extended family in Italy, Canada, and the U.S.A. A heart- felt thank-you to her primary caregiver Nicoletta (Vito) Geronimo whom she resided with, and to the nurses on 1E who tended to her care. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, from 2-4pm and 6-9pm on Monday, February 17, 2014. Born to parents George and Florence Hatch in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1937, she moved to Toronto in 1963 where she married the love of her life. She leaves behind her husband, sons Adrian (Lisa) and Julian (Kristi) and a large family who loved her dearly. She was a doting "Grandie" to Sebastian, Avery, Daley and Dash. Predeceased by her brother David Hatch, sister Harriet Caters and sister-in-law Jocelyn Hatch, she will be dearly missed by brother Roy, sister-in-law Loretta Hatch, brother-in-law Nathaniel Caters, nieces, nephews and many friends. Rota had a passion for travel and enjoyed a lengthy career in tourism along side best friends Audrey and Richard Johnston. She loved a cup of tea, exploring the shops, her weekly coffee date with "the girls", and a great laugh. She was devoted to her family for which we will always be grateful. We will forever miss her love and support, but are thankful for the wealth of warm memories of a life well lived. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Oakville Club, 56 Water Street, Oakville, on Monday, February 17, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
