Dando, Reginald (Reg) Charles (Died)
- Full Text
DANDO, Reginald (Reg) Charles The family of Reginald (Reg) Charles Dando regrets to announce his passing. Reg went peacefully in his sleep on December 13, 2013, just over three months from his 99th birthday. Predeceased by wife Madeline and brother William, Reg will be sadly missed by his son Gary and daughter-in-law Paula; grandchildren Carrie, Christopher, Kimberly and Karen; great-grandchildren Jade, Samantha, Rachel and Christopher and sister Diana and brother-in-law Bill. Reg was a lifetime resident of Oakville, Ontario and was raised on Ballymena Estate, where his parents, Richard and Elizabeth, were employed by the Eaton family. Upon returning home, after serving two years in Europe during the Second World War, Reg was hired by the Lawson and Kindersley families, at Ballymena Estate, where he worked for over fifty-two years. During his tenure, he had the privilege of meeting Eleanor Roosevelt and attending the funeral of William Lyon Mackenzie King. After Ballymena was sold, he spent an additional five years on the estate, in a property consultant capacity for the new owners. Ballymena always remained a cherished part of his life. It was Reg’s wish that there be no funeral and that everyone remembers him as he was; and so, he will be lovingly remembered by his family and his many friends in Oakville, for his generosity, dedication and very special sense of humour. For those who wish, donations to The Salvation Army in Reg’s honour, would be appreciated.
