Oakville concluded the regular season with a 15-17-5-1 record, following a 1-1 tie with the Southwest Wildcats and a 3-1 loss to the Bluewater Hawks last weekend. Durham West was 26-6-2-4 this season. The Hornets dropped both their games against Durham West this season, 4-1 in Ajax Dec. 14 and 2-1 in Oakville Feb. 1. A schedule for the Durham West/ Oakville best-of-five series had not been released as of yesterday (Tuesday) morning. Winners of the first round advance to the Final 8 championship weekend, which will be held April 3-6 at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. Three days after the Canadian women's hockey team's epic comeback in the Olympic gold-medal game, a trio of Oakville Hornets squads claimed golds of its own Sunday at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. The Oakville tyke Blue, peewee Penguins and ladies White Hot all won division titles at the Hornets' 18th annual house league girls' hockey tournament last weekend. Four other Oakville squads -- the novice Golden Jaguars, peewee Blue, bantam Stingers and ladies Black Attack -- were division finalists. The tyke Blue downed the Burlington Barracudas in its title game, completing a 4-0 showing against the seven-team field. The peewee Penguins edged their hometown rivals, Blue, 3-2 in a shootout. The Pens, who defeated the Barrie Sharks 2-1 in the semifinals, finished the tournament undefeated. Blue's only loss of the competition came in the championship game of the 23team division. White Hot defeated Black Attack 2-1 in the ladies' final as Oakville teams were the top four finishers in the 12-team group. In the semifinals, Black Attack blanked Oakville Nashville Gold 2-0 and White Hot got by Oakville Code Blue 3-2. The 16-team novice division was won by the Mississauga Lucky Clovers, who beat the Golden Jaguars 3-2 in the final. Barrie Blue Sharks doubled up the Waterloo Ravens in the title game of the 22team atom division. The Oakville Vipers -- who overcame a late 3-1 deficit to win their quarter-final game 4-3 in a shootout -- and Oakville Purple Piranhas were semifinalists. The Oakville Stingers fell 1-0 to the Mississauga Chiefs in the bantam final. Mississauga defeated another Oakville team, the Flyers, 2-0 in the semifinals of the 24-team bantam group. In intermediate play, Clarington got by the Tecumseh Tiger-Cats 3-2 in a shootout. The Oakville Maroon Goons fell victim to the Tiger-Cats in the semifinals, dropping a 2-1 decision.
