Description
Reg is shown here with a young man who is likely his cousin, Lorne Simpson. Reg is wearing a vest, Lorne a tie. Reg lived and farmed on the property originally owned by his great-grandfather Isaac Smith until the development of Bronte Creek Provincial Park in about 1970.
Notes
John D. Smith's grandparents had been British Loyalists who came to the Niagara penninsula and settled in Grimsby Township. The family was large, bringing 4 children with 8 more children born in Upper Canada. John's father was was their oldest son, Isaac, born in New Jersey (1754-1826) and his mother was Hannah Wilcox (1759-1838).

Isaac Smith received the land titles to various lots in Trafalgar Township and in 1831, he transferred the title of Lot 34, Concession 1 South of Dundas Street to John. John's family and descendants farmed this property until the land was acquired for Bronte Creek Provincial Park in 1972 by the Ontario government.

The property is on the north-east corner of Bronte Creek Provincial Park. South side of Dundas Street, just east of Tremaine Rd.
