Lister aspired to engage Oakville Hydro employees in the cause and to lend their support through numerous efforts, including having a team participate in the annual UWO Bus Pull competition, Sammy the piggy bank making the rounds in the office to collect donations and special events that included `Take Your Dog to Work Day' for a donation. Ferrone said she's proud to be part of the UWO family, which recognizes that although Oakville is a beautiful community there are resi- dents who need assistance. She noted how funding from UWO "literally keeps our (BBBSH) doors open." "We served 1,113 children last year and that's because of United Way," she said, adding children who are mentored are more likely to finish school and go on to post-secondary education. "We know our programs have a huge impact and there's a huge rate-of-return back to the community," she said.
