Durham West scored with one tick remaining in regulation to edge the Hornets 4-3 Sunday in Ajax, taking a 2-0 lead on Oakville in the best-of-five first-round series. The Lightning blanked Oakville 3-0 the previous evening, also in Ajax. The Hornets return home to host Game 3 tomorrow (Friday) at Joshua's Creek Arenas (8:30 p.m. start). If necessary, Game 4 will also be contested in Oakville, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. Lauren Webb, Jazz Kennedy and Cassidy MacPherson scored goals Sunday for the Hornets, with Olivia Atkinson recording two assists. Durham West enjoyed 10 powerplay opportunities while Oakville had just two. The Hornets were outshot 28-17 in Saturday's series opener. Durham West is the fifth seed in the PWHL playoffs after posting a 26-6-2-4 record in regular-season play. Jobson, a former America's Cup champion who has been an ESPN sailing commentator since 1985, spoke of his experience sailing in the America's Cup as well as the direction the sport has taken. A crowd of more than 140 sailors also heard Diane Reid describe her solo race across the Atlantic Ocean as part of last year's Mini Transat event. National One Design Sailing Academy is an adult sailing school based out of Oakville. The school's mission is to grow the sport of sailing by getting more people involved. Binnington lowered her goalsagainst average for the season to 1.82 while her save percentage climbed to .940, a mark that ranks sixth in the NCAA. The shutout was her sixth of the season and extended her personal winning streak to five games. Cricket U19 players, team recognized Oakville Cricket Academy members earned one team and three individual awards at the recent Toronto & District Cricket Association Awards Dinner. The club's under-19 team was recognized for winning its conference, while Mamik Luthra received awards for most wickets in the U19 category and for six wickets in one inning. Ritesh Malhotra was presented a trophy for most runs scored in the U19 group. Oakville Cricket Academy will field teams in U13, U15, U17, U19 and senior play this season.
