- Full Text
CARPENTER, Lloyd After a difficult battle with cancer, one of Bronte's icons has passed away. Lloyd Carpenter, just 5 short days from his 95th birthday, died from complications of cancer at the Carpenter Hospice. Predeceased by his loving wife, Charlotte (Browne) in 1999, he leaves his five children, Cory (Art) Ireland, Gwen (Stu) Jones, Connie (Rene) Verbeke, Bill Carpenter and Rob (Tina) Carpenter, along with 13 Grandchildren (Tim, Rod, Marcia, Patti, Matt, Jeff, Jason, Janie, Tricia, Wade, Casey, Chris, & Kristen), and 19 GreatGrandchildren and 1 Great-GreatGrandchild. Lloyd grew up in his favorite place on earth, Bronte, and spent time as well in the town of Marmora and the city of Burlington. He was a man of many talents, as evidenced by the Fisherman's Memorial down at the Bronte Harbour and his many paintings and carvings in the homes of his family. Lloyd loved nature and enjoyed his daily walks in the woods. He is a man who will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Thanks to all the volunteers, nurses and PSW's at The Carpenter Hospice who made Lloyd's brief stay so comfortable truly a loving and caring place. Charitable donations in Lloyd's name to The Carpenter Hospice would be greatly appreciated. A brief graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 25th, 11 AM, at St. Jude's Cemetery on Lakeshore Road in Oakville.
