Arrest in rash of thefts from vehicles A 26-year-old Acton man charged with 17 counts of theft under $5,000 was caught red-handed with items stolen from vehicles. On Facebook, a writer recount how his mother noticed her motion detection lights go on at 3 a.m. last Thursday and she saw someone attempting to get into their three locked cars parked in their drivew a y, a n d t h e n m o v e across the street. Her husband called police and gave chase, and Halton police arrested a suspect in the area and found he was in possession of several stolen items, which police did not identify. Police said the investigation to date involved vehicles most of them unlocked on Greenore Crescent, Cameron Street, Kingham Road, Church Street East, Wr i g h t Av e n u e a n d Birchway Place. Halton police said these particular crimes a r e l a rg e l y p r e v e n t able with simple crime prevention techniques including: · parking in an en closed garage or a well lit area. · never leaving valu ables in plain sight or removing them from a vehicle entirely · locking your vehicle.
