Are you ready for some outdoor fun and excitement? Then the second Annual Acton Winter Carnival is the event for you. The Acton Winter Carnival is ready to go for the last weekend in January at Prospect Park and the Acton Town Hall Centre. This year, we have added a few new events and hope everyone comes out for some great family fun. To kick off the Acton Winter Carnival, the Acton Town Hall Centre will host a community dance on Saturday, January 26. Doors open at 8 p.m., and tickets are $5 at the door. There will be a DJ to dance the night away and Tanner's Pub & Grill will host the bar and sell food during the evening. Look for some fun activities including the crowning of the Snow Queen and King. Another new event this year is a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, January 27 also at the Acton Town Hall Centre, at 19 Willow St. North. The breakfast will run from 9 - 11 a.m., and this is a fundraiser for the Acton Air Cadets. Festivities will start at Prospect Park at 11 a.m. on Sunday, and there will be a host of activities for the entire family to enjoy. There will be horse and wagon rides, outdoor curling run by the Acton Curling Club, an Acton House League Hockey Tournament, public skating and a snow golf mini putt competition. The Acton Legion is running a snow horse shoe pit and the Acton ice sculpting demonstrations, come and watch professional ice carvers create an amazing sculpture out of a block of ice right before your eyes. At 4 p.m., join us at the Acton Town Hall Centre for our second annual chili cook-off. Chili will be judged at 3 p.m., by our very own Ryan Parker from Q107Classic Rock, and Gerry Kentner and Lori Gysel from What's Cookin'. Chili and refreshments will be available at 4 p.m., when the closing ceremonies start at the Town Hall Centre with presentations for the photography contest, chili cook-off, and the mini putt competition. Raffles and 50/50 draw will be made at this time as well. The Acton Winter Carnival is sure to offer some winter time fun and excitement for people of all ages.
