The computer course on Tuesday, January 8 was well attended with sixteen members eager to learn how to set up and program their computers, plus learn what the various components are that make up computers and laptops. Now we are ready to start learning about Microsoft Office and Open Office. Some people were quite knowledgeable about computers and some were just starting to explore the world of computers. Everyone was helping each other under the guidance of Matthew and Jessie Caldwell. Thirty members and friends are getting excited about their trip in late January to St Lucia, and are busy planning day trips, etc. The Acton Seniors Centre's annual general meeting is March 5 at 2 p.m. We will elect seven board members for a two year term. If you, or a member you know, would be interested in any of the following Board positions: Fundraising chair, Travel chair, or Treasurer, please contact staff or use the nomination forms posted on the Centre's bulletin board. On Friday, January 25 the lunch will be fish and chips. It is important that you make sure your name is only down once and you sign up by 4 p.m., Wednesday. The lunches have to be ordered, and it is hard to make 30 portions of fish stretch to 35 people. If you find you are unexpectedly able to join us for lunch on Friday morning you can always phone and see if they have had a cancellation. Please, if you are unable to come after signing up make sure you phone and let us know! Bingo is back on Friday, February 8 at 7 p.m., in the Community Hall, open to everyone. Light refreshments will be available. The last three Bingos were very successful, but it was felt that more people would be able to attend on a Friday evening. Monday, February 18 is Family Day in Ontario, so the Centre will be closed that day. There were two mooners on Thursday afternoon Shirley Hunter and Bernie Mac Millan each had one late in the afternoon. Three more leaves were added to our Tree of Hope on Friday afternoon in memory of Fred Frankruyter, by the Walsma Family, and one by Margaret Anderson and her grandson Ben Bailie in memory of Donna Rowley. This makes 157 leaves on the branches, representing $ 7,850 towards our future expansion plans. Marie Anderson's name was drawn at the weekly 50/50 last Friday. She had been in and put her loonie in the box, so she won $332.75. $ PER TIRE NEW VALVES & BALANCING INCLUDED * MOST CARS * Mon. to Fri. only 10 BEAT THE SNOW!
