7 | Thursday, March 13, 2014 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com The Viora Reaction skin tightening system for fat reduction and facial skin lifting and tightening, recently approved in Canada, is available at Verso Surgery Centre. "We have tried a lot of similar technology and we really like this one because the results are unbelievable," said Veronica Pascu, medical aesthetician at Verso Surgery Centre. The procedure uses radio frequency energy to break collagen crosslinks, strengthen the skin's elasticity and enhance collagen secretion over time. The majority of patients seeking the procedure are between 40 and 60 years of age, many of whom choose this treatment over a facelift. "And for those people who do not want a facelift, this will give them the opportunity to really maintain their skin without undergoing surgery. It's literally for anybody. We find as a clinic, when we see patients who are close to 70, they do need a face and a neck lift and if, for whatever reason, they do not want to go that way, then this is an option." Starting skin treatments younger, as many women choose to do these days, may mean never having to consider a facelift, says Veronica."We call it buying time. You buy time, you always look good, that's the bottom line; you look good, you feel good." No treatment is permanent because we continue to age, she says. "Even with a facelift it's not permanent. The regular facelift will last you 10 years. With Viora you're probably good for five years but it still Viora skin tightening treatment an alternative to facelift requires regular maintenance, one treatment every six months because our skin continues to age." Veronica doesn't see women seeking beauty treatments as vanity but a desire to take care of themselves. "In this society, women work very hard, they have kids, they work fulltime and it's a very busy life. In order to feel good, you want to look good. Women like to look good before they walk out of the house." Veronica was born and educated in Romania where she took an intensive three-year program, working hand-in-hand with the medical profession, to earn her title as a medical aesthetician. Even today, she attends courses at least once a month to stay on top of new products and technology. "It's a business where there are new things all the time, you never get bored, you always learn, you always help people, you always meet different people every day so no day is like another day," says Veronica. "And I really enjoy working with people and making them happy. At end of the day, everybody leaves this office with a smile on their face." Currently Viora skin tightening treatments are extremely popular among women who are not yet ready for a facelift, or simply don't want to go that route. "We find that facelifts are getting less and less because of the procedures that we do. People start earlier with fillers, Botox, skin tightening, skin care." An entire wing of the beautifully enhanced new Verso Surgery Centre, operated by facial plastic surgeon Dr. Jack Kolenda, is devoted to facial cosmetic and laser treatments, as well as medical skin care.
