In a presentation to council, HHAC Chair Wendy Schau called for the reduction of the multi-residential tax ratio from its current level of 2.2 to 2.0. A tax ratio is used to determine tax rates for the different property classes. Schau argued the lower ratio would result in lower rents, which she noted are desperately needed in Halton. "As I'm sure you know from the Region's 2012 `State of Housing' report, at $1,116, Halton has the highest average monthly rent of any municipality in the GTA," said Schau. "A wide range of people are negatively effected by those high rents. Particularly seniors living on xed incomes, people with disabilities, single parents, young people just starting their careers and those who work at lower-paying jobs." She said the prospect of nding affordable housing in Halton gets worse each year with the gap currently sitting at 800 to 1,600 units. Schau's call for a reduction came as council reviewed its Multi-Year Tax Policy Strategy. see Concerns on p.4 Optimize Performance (Adults and Children) · Attention span is short · Difficulty organizing & completing work · also helpful for Asperger's · also Psycho-educational testing ADD Centre MacLachlan College Offering a world-class education for students from Pre-school to Grade 12.
