Description
A series of 7 photographs taken in March 2014 to document the homes and old buildings at Palermo on Old Bronte Road, south of Dundas Street.

Under "Pages Select" click to pull down the list of the other photographs.

Shown first is the Bartman house with the blacksmith shop in behind it to the left. 2480 Old Bronte Rd. sits on the west side of Old Bronte Road, just south of the Palermo plaza which is on the south side of Dundas Street. The house was built in the 1890's of "watertable" bricks.

Records seem to indicate that the residence at 2480 Old Bronte Road was built circa 1908-1921 by Thomas Garner or Henry Breckon, both local farmers.

We have a number of records in our internet collection with more information on the blacksmith and the properties on this street in "historic" Palermo.

Next is the blacksmith shop on the Bartman family property. We have photographs of the interior of the shop showin "Wib" Bartman working in our internet collection.

The next photograph is the house of the Giles family.

Then, the Lister house at 2454 Old Bronte Road, built in the years 1865-78.

Then, a view north towards Dundas of the new medical centre that is being constructed, barely visible is the Anson Buck house, and the visible house at 2477 Old Bronte Road is a timberframe house built 1835-45..

Another view of the Bartman house.

The last house is unknown. Encroaching new development housing is visible.
