Speed skaters win medals at nationals, easterns, provincials Oakville Speed Skating Club member Erin Stewart recently earned a silver medal in relay at the Canadian Age Class Short Track Championships in Prince George, B.C. Teammates Sean McAnuff and Tiago Lee Santos added medals at a different event, the Canada East Short Track Championships in Riviere-du-Loup, Que. McAnuff won his 400-metre race while Santos was second in his 400m event. OSSC skaters also earned medals at recent provincial competitions. The Speedsters sent 10 athletes to the provincial B meet for skaters 11 and older in Clarington, with Samuel Mathew (gold), Sydney Little (silver), Nicole Agaiby (silver and Austin Pavao (bronze) winning medals. Brittany Pan and Daniel Giannotti added top-six finishes, and James Nelson, Adam DeVellis and Pavao broke the 60-second barrier for the first time in 500m races. At the provincial C meet for skaters 10 and under in Milton, Izabella Zakatsiolo, Andrew Liou and Frank Feng won gold medals. Sherise Gratton and Alina Lee Santos took home silvers, while Alexander Giannotti, Jonathan Caron and Kai Abdool secured bronze.
