The Trailblazers won both the Wave Jr. Boys Jamboree and the Burlington Cup, posting victories in its final nine games after opening the season with a 0-0 tie versus Nelson. Evan Brown, who was chosen by the Guelph Storm in the third round of last weekend's Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, led Ridge offensively, with Lucas Ricci, Jack Grebence and Josh Rettinger also providing scoring punch. Also contributing to Ridge's success were Trevor Downey, Tim Gibson, Ryan Kwast, Brandon Watada, Matt Milford, Liam Gravelle, Tyler Sampson, Kyle Harvey, Will Lee, Devon Wilson, Matt Baumann, Spencer Vero and Jaeden Luik. The team was coached by Mike Tarantino -- recently named the Ontario Junior Hockey League's executive of the year for his work as general manager of the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots -- and Scott Phillips. This year's race will feature a 10K and 5K run/walk, The Martin Group of National Bank Financial High School Challenge, a one-kilometre junior jog for children ages 6-12, a 300-metre toddler trot for children ages 1-5, and the second annual mascot races. The Oakville Hospital Foundation is the charitable partner for this year's race. All funds raised by the 2014 Oakville 10K will go towards equipping a single-patient room. Maintaining the event's tradition, one lucky finisher in either the 5K or 10K race will win a one-year lease of a new 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA provided by MercedesBenz Oakville Autohaus.
