The two-hour events are hosted by Ground Breakers, an Oakvillegreen program that has seen the planting of approximately 16,000 native trees and shrubs in Oakville since 2004. Planters will meet in the parking lot, at 10 a.m., on the left side of the Lakeshore Road West entrance -- the park is located at Lakeshore and Great Lakes Boulevard. "This is a great way for high school students to earn volunteer hours and a fun way for families to make their community greener," stated a press release by Oakvillegreen. "Local businesses that would like to participate as part of an employee community service event are welcome." While shovels and gloves will be provided, volunteers are welcome to bring their own.
