The Oakville native was a member of the minor midget AAA Rangers squad that won the OHL Cup last spring. He spent last season with the Oakville Blades, collecting 11 goals and 20 points in 52 regular-season games as a rookie in the Ontario Junior Hockey League. Kohler was selected in the sixth round of the 2013 OHL Priority Selection by the Erie Otters.
