Open air burning in Oakville 2014 notice of issuance of taxicab plates In accordance with the Town of Oakville Taxicab By-Law 2005-026, as amended, additional taxicab plates shall be issued at a ratio of one plate per one thousand, five hundred and seventy five (1575) residents as directed by Council. The Town of Oakville will be issuing nine additional taxicab plates to the individuals who have established priority status on the taxicab plate waiting list. Oakville's open air burning by-law has changed to protect residents from the negative impacts of backyard fires on neighbouring properties. Know the rules. Under the new by-law, smoke and odour from an outdoor fireplace or fire pit cannot interfere with the neighbours' enjoyment of their property. Fire crews will respond to complaints and fire safety violations, extinguish the offending fire and educate the resident about the by-law requirements of open air burning. After two violations of the by-law, the property owner will be charged a fee of $410 for each Fire department response. Be a good neighbour. Follow the rules for recreational burning and respect the rights of your neighbours. Consider installing a propane or natural gas-burning device to reduce the impact of smoke and odour. For more information, visit oakville.ca or call Oakville Fire Safety Education at 905-338-4404. The Plate number, as noted, will be issued to the nine individuals listed below. Anyone wishing to object to the issuance of such plates, based strictly on entitlement, must file an objection with the Licensing Commissioner no later than 10 days after the date of the posting of this notice. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
