As seniors will become a larger demographic, SERC wants to help businesses respond to the shift through a one-day, interactive conference at Sheridan College on June 12. "The Age Aware Summit will help businesses learn what motivates older consumers and develop strategies to communicate effectively with this growing market," stated a SERC news release. The event will feature internationally-recognized author and mature market expert Dick Stroud, from the UK-based consulting firm 20plus30. This will be the first time Stroud will speak in Canada and he will tackle the business implications of physiological aging and how companies can prosper from opportunities presented by the mature consumer market. "It is astonishing how many companies stop researching and targeting people once they reach the age of 65," Stroud said in the release. "Customers who are grouped into the '65plus category' include as much diversity and buying power as their baby-boomer juniors." Those who attend the conference are asked to bring ideas and their existing marketing strategies to the session. Cost to attend the summit is $225.
