"Summer is an excellent time to focus on education," says Centre Director, Maryam Jawaid. "Many parents think of tutoring only during the school year, but they don't take into account that the curriculum gets more challenging every year. Waiting until the next school year eliminates the possibility of improving a student's understanding of Math, English and Science during a time when there is no added pressure of school tests, quizzes and assignments." The Academy will be featuring a host of educational programs this summer, such as Essay Writing, Grade 8 to Grade 9 Transition, Grade 10 Literacy Test Prep, Grade 12 Advanced Functions Prep and Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors Prep. The Grade 9 Transition Program focuses on preparing students for challenging high school math, which comes as a leap from Grade 8. "Many students assume Grade 9 Math will be a continuation of Grade 8 and that is simply not the case," says Maryam. "Grade 9 sets the stage for success in high school, and we help to prepare students accordingly." Along with these set courses, the Academy also organizes custom programs, whether the aim is to catch up or get ahead. "A lot of parents are looking for enrichment, and to prevent brain drain. With no other schooling, students are not bogged down by doing a little bit of Math or English during the summer. Plus it keep them sharp for September" For elementary students, the focus is often on Math, Reading and Writing. Students can also work on English as a Second Language and French as a Second Language. High School students can receive assistance for their summer school courses or get government approved-credits from the Academy. Keep in mind that there are endless options. The Academy makes custom programs for both students and adults. SAT, MCAT, GMAT and entrance test preparation are also offered.
