It was for members of the new Oakville North-Burlington riding. It was held so the women, both vying to be the candidate selected to campaign for the riding in the 2015 federal election, could present themselves before members choose a candidate in voting slated to take place Saturday (May 24) at a meeting to be held at King's Christian Collegiate in Oakville. Both are vying for the contentious Conservative nomination in the new riding of Oakville North-Burlington. The forum, for Conservative riding members only, came just days ahead of those members casting a vote tomorrow (Saturday, May 24) for which of the two women they want to select as the riding's Conservative candidate in the upcoming 2015 federal election. Wednesday's forum invited Conservative members in the riding to hear directly from the two candidates. Saturday's voting will be done at King's Christian Collegiate, 528 Burnhamthorpe Rd. W. in Oakville. Residents must bring photo ID with their address in order to cast a vote between noon and 8 p.m. on Saturday. Controversy has surrounded the new riding of Oakville North-Burlington, especially over the last few months as the heated battle for the Conservative nomination comes to a head. Adams, who moved to Oakville last July, has been at the centre of it, making headlines for turning up uninvited to a local Conservative party executive meeting. She was accused of blocking traffic at an Ottawa gas station last December after being upset about a car wash she deemed unsatisfactory. Adams, who announced her intentions to become the Conservative candidate for the new riding last May, also faced allegations she was using her position as a member of Parliament to unfair advantage and for breaking the election rules in her bid to win the new federal seat. Amidst the bad press, her fiancé, Dimitri Soudas, was forced to resign as national director of the Conservative party after Prime Minister Stephen Harper learned that his former communications director had been meddling in the nomination battle. Meanwhile her opponent, Lishchyna, who has lived in north Oakville for more than 17 years, has also been actively campaigning for support. The new riding of Oakville North-Burlington emerged out of a large electoralboundary shuffle looming for the 2015 federal election when 30 new seats will be added to the Commons. -- with files from the Toronto Star The Benefits of an Easy-Flo Built-In Vacuum System LIMITED Open Your Home & Hearts to a Student From Spain This Summer Red Leaf Student Program needs families in Oakville and Burlington to host a Student from Spain in July.
