Accused turned himself in Bail hearing scheduled for today in Milton continued from p.1 Lakeshore Rd. W., as head of a sailing school, which includes a racing team. Brian Miller, BHYC commodore, said the accused was directed to take a leave of absence on Wednesday after the Halton Children's Aid Society (CAS) contacted the club stating an investigation was in progress. "We asked him to leave and he did," said Miller. "We are obviously shocked by this. The minute we heard from the CAS on this we took action. We met with (the accused). We have communicated the leave of absence to our paid staff, our board of directors and are in the process of getting this out to our membership.... "We are not aware of anything that has happened at Bronte Harbour at all. Nobody has come forward to us. The police haven't said anything to us at all and we will be communicating this with our membership and our sailing school families." The accused was arrested Thursday after turning himself in and is being held pending a bail hearing, which is scheduled to take place in a Milton Court today (Friday). Sean Hewson, 31, of Ancaster has been charged with 16 Criminal Code offences pertaining to sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and sexual exploitation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Halton Regional Police Service Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Bureau's Det. Sgt. John MANS 905-465-8760. No one injured in natural gas leak A natural gas leak at a Preserve Drive construction site -- at Sixth Line and Dundas Street -- triggered a small-scale evacuation Thursday morning. At 8:45 a.m., a passerby noticed the odour of gas in the area and called the Oakville fire department. Deputy Fire Chief Andy Glynn said firefighters, upon arrival, found an excavator had damaged a four-inch gas line causing it to leak. "This was in a residential area under construction. There was only one home evacuated because there was only one home occupied in that area," said Glynn. "Fire crews set up a hot zone and secured an area around where the gas leak was. Police cordoned off an area blocking a number of streets in that vicinity." Glynn said Union Gas worked to fix the leak. No injuries were reported. 5 | Friday, May 23, 2014 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com For more news, visit www.oakvillebeaver.com Clarification: In clarification of a story, Chlobowski returning to provincial ballot for Green Party in Oakville, in the Wednesday, May 21 edition of the Oakville Beaver, Green Party of Ontario's Oakville candidate Andrew Chlobowski's position on the scrapping of the Oakville and Mississauga power plants may have been unclear.
