The national day is put on by YMCAs across Canada and is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children and families. "The health of our children is a serious matter, one that is very important to the YMCA and should be a top priority for parents, schools and all Canadians," Kyle Barber, president and CEO of the YMCA of Oakville, said in a news release. "Raising healthy children is a community effort and together with our community partners and exhibitors on YMCA Healthy Kids Day, we'll demonstrate simple ways we can all come together to help our kids become active and healthy." According to a 2014 Report Card by Ac- CONCRETE · DRIVEWAYS · FRENCH CURBS · PATIOS · STEPS · WALKWAYS · GARAGE FLOORS tive Healthy Kids Canada, 32 per cent of children aged five to 17 are overweight, and only five per cent of that same age group is meeting the 60 minutes per day of activity from the Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines. Local families are encouraged to drop into the YMCA from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and join in activities, such as: Raptors Mobile Fan Zone; ArtHouse in Motion performance; community bike ride with Cycle Oakville; yoga, Zumba, skate park, demos, family games, and food workshops. Ozone Systems International will send the two vehicles to South Sudan to move sick and injured patients to the hospital. "Currently, there are only three ambulances servicing three million people in South Sudan, so there is clearly a great need for these ambulances," said Dr. Wycliffe Baird, vice-president of Ozone Systems International.
