Suspicious fire destroys RV Halton police are investigating after a recreational vehicle (RV) caught fire while parked at a residence in the area of Eighth Line and Falgarwood Drive early Thursday morning. The Oakville Fire Department was called to the area at around 2 a.m. after flames were spotted on the outside of the vehicle. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, but not before considerable damage was done to the RV. Oakville Deputy Fire Chief Brian Durdin said the vehicle suffered heavy smoke damage to its inside. Halton police Det. Maureen Martin said the fire did an estimated $5,000 worth of damage and the vehicle is considered a complete write-off. No one was inside the RV at the time of the fire. Durdin said the blaze started in one of the RV's exterior storage compartments while the vehicle was parked and not running. It is being treated as a suspicious fire. The Oakville Fire Department Fire Prevention Division is also investigating.
