An Oakville contractor has been fined nearly $6,000 for performing electrical work without being licensed to do so. On May 26, a Burlington court found Andrew Gallino of Gallino Contracting guilty on one count of performing electrical work without an electrical contractor's licence and one count of advertising electrical services without an electrical contractor's licence. An ESA inspection revealed the work did not meet Ontario's Electrical Safety Code, which could have resulted in a shock or a fire. The administrative authority, which enhances public electrical safety on behalf of the Government of Ontario, also found Gallino was not licensed to do electrical work and that he had also been advertising electrical services on multiple websites. The court imposed a total fine of $5,750 for both violations. The fine included a 25 per cent victim fine surcharge as required by the Provincial Offences Act.
