Attendees of all ages are invited to witness the 3D printer in action and view examples of things it can produce. Graduates of Sheridan College's Visual and Creative Arts program will join library staff in showcasing the abilities of this curious new device. "We're excited to integrate our 3D printer into library programs for all ages," Charlotte Meissner, CEO of the Oakville Public Library, stated in a press release. "Community feedback will be instrumental as we move forward, which is why we're hoping for public insight at the open house. "Library staff will be on hand to share ideas about how the community might enjoy and interact with Mr. Roboto." The Oakville Public Library is an evolving public service. The MakerBot, fondly named `Mr. Roboto' by library staff, is a marvel of innovation in threedimensional (3D) printing. A 3D printer creates physical objects from digital (computer-modeled) designs. As a fourth-generation machine, the MakerBot sets new standards for resolution and accuracy (models are more true-to-life), building volume, speed and ease of use.
