Money available to athletes The Oakville Sports Hall of Fame is currently inviting applications for its Athlete Scholarship and Assistance Program. The Oakville Sports Endowment Fund, through the generosity of Olympians and OSHOF members Larry Cain and Donovan Bailey, helps local athletes in need of financial assistance to pursue their objectives in sport. The OSHOF is responsible for identifying athletes who may receive assistance from the fund. Awards will be a minimum of $1,000 and are given annually. The awards are ideally targeted to athletes who are from Oakville, com- peting at the national and international level and are in need of assistance with costs of their program. Both able-bodied and disabled athletes will be considered. Recent recipients of the awards include sprinters, long-distance track athletes, triathletes, wrestlers, speed skaters, rhythmic gymnasts, gymnasts, paddlers and hockey players.
