Of the 87,527 total electors in town, 50,029 went to the polls to cast their vote. That's a turnout of 57.2 per cent. The numbers are up from the 2011 provincial election when 45,308 Oakville voters exercised their democratic right resulting in a 52.7 per cent showing at the polls. People appeared to have been waiting for election day to cast a ballot as voter participation at this year's advanced polls was down.
