On Monday, June 2, satanic-based graf ti was scratched into the glass windows at a religious facility. Two days later, satanic graf ti was spray painted on a front door and on signs at the entrances of three different places of worship. The vandalism spree caused approximately $3,000 in damages. Police would not say which places of worship were targeted, but believe the actions were hate-motivated. The work, which stands about six feet, features the gure of ve Second World War soldiers. It commemorates not only the Canadians who fought during the rst day of the Allied invasion of occupied France on June 6, 1944, but all who serve their countries, communities, families and Appleby itself.
