Brenda Dushko, OMHS spokesperson, said the disturbing trend began May 20 when a humane wildlife control company contacted the OMHS about a mother raccoon its employees had discovered in what is known as a conibear trap in the Westmount community. "A conibear trap is a squeeze trap. It's used to kill animals rather than relocate them," she said. "The homeowner in this case paid cash to (someone) they found on (the internet)... The homeowner really had no idea what was going on. The (ad) just said (the company) would get rid of their raccoon problem. The homeowner didn't realize what would happen and they were very upset." The mother raccoon did not survive -- and Dushko said photos taken at the scene by OMHS staff were far too graphic to be shared. see Fine on p.3 Kevin Flynn returns as Minister of Labour by Julia Le Oakville Beaver Staff MacLachlan College SIZZLING SOCCER SALE!
