At a press conference Monday, Det. Paul Foley of the Halton Regional Police Service Integrated Guns and Gangs Unit said police had been gathering information about the alleged traf cking of large amounts of marijuana in and around Halton and Peel since 2012. However, the of ce said the investigation kicked into high gear last spring. Foley would not specify what brought about the turnaround, but admitted Halton police received information from informants, through Crime Stoppers and other anonymous tips.
