www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Wednesday, July 2, 2014 | 2 REALTORS® Making A Difference In Your Community 2014 Scholarship Awards In June, The Oakville, Milton and District Real Estate Board (OMDREB) awarded four $2,500 scholarships to graduating students from Oakville and Milton-area high schools. Students chose from three essay topics in association with our 2014 President's Charity, Habitat for Humanity Halton. The three topics related to improving affordable housing in our community, the relationship between financial literacy and home ownership, and the effect substandard housing has on families and the community. This year's winners were Josephine Luetke (St. Thomas Aquinas), Sydney Newton (Oakville Trafalgar), Oreoluwatomiwa Ademidun (Bishop P.F. Reding) and Sofia Del Vasto (White Oaks). We wish to congratulate this year's winners and thank all the students who took the time and made the effort to submit an entry. The award recognizes a boards/associations significant contribution to the Foundation or by its support of shelter-related charities in their communities. The Spirit Award was presented at the Ontario Real Estate Association conference. OMDREB was a nominee for "The Group Volunteer Award" at the 13th Annual Town of Oakville Community Spirit Awards. Our Board would like to congratulate the winner from our category, Friends of the Oakville Public Library. We were in great company and are proud to be part of a supportive and giving community. President's Charity This year marks a milestone anniversary for OMDREB, as we celebrate 60 years of organized real estate in Halton. Habitat for Humanity Halton, our President's Charity for 2014, will be the beneficiary of our fundraising efforts. We are committed to raising $50,000 for their Oakville build on Pembroke Drive. Everyone is invited to attend our Fabulous Fifties "Un-Gala" in October. See you there!
