www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Wednesday, July 23, 2014 | 10 Driver appreciative of continued fan support `We should have got beat, ' Indians coach says continued from p.9 on the lead lap. It was just another chapter in Hinchcliffe's run of bad luck in his home race. In his first Toronto IndyCar race in 2011, Hinchcliffe was fifth when fellow Canadian Paul Tracy tried to pass on a risky section of the course. Tracy's wing cut Hinchcliffe's tire and he was forced to pit. He finished 14th. In 2012, he was plagued by engine problems and was forced out of the race after 33 laps and finished 22nd. Last year's throttle problem relegated him to 21st. Though the Toronto track has been rough on Hinchcliffe through the years, he said two races in a day wasn't as tough as expected. "Strap me in, I'll do it again in a couple of hours," he said. "I would have liked to have run the full distance (85 laps). I went to bed last night thinking it was 75 laps and woke up this morning and it was 65. With races shortened, it wasn't much of an event physically. I mean, we ran most of the second race under caution so I'm not too beaten up." And there's no doubt Hinchcliffe would have been willing to go again, if for no other reason to put on a show for the fans. "The fans have been so supportive," he said. "The coolest thing is they're not bandwagon fans. I haven't given them a lot to cheer for but with all that went on with the rain, the stands are still packed." continued from p.9 "(The Buzz) did a great job. They did not give up. It was a tough battle. They deserve a lot of credit, man, to go up 2-0. "(The series) should have been over. We should have got beat. Our kids persevered and we got the job done." Oakville transition player Nick Crepinsek gave the Indians credit for their comeback, but felt Oakville should have won the series. "We had them. And we couldn't keep the gas pedal down," the 18-year-old McMaster University student said. "We have to give it to (the Indians). They're a strong team, and they were playing for their season too. "As the Buzz, we always rebuild and we're always restacking," added Crepinsek, one of many Oakville players eligible to return next season. "We'll be back in the same situation next year, just on the other end. We deserve to be here." NOTES: Goaltender Josh Falkenstern, defender Paul Rakoczy, forward O'Donnell and transitions Sam Neeb and Watkinson played their final game for the Buzz Sunday (age graduation)... Oakville late-season acquisition Joe French leads the league in scoring through two rounds, racking up 48 points (21 goals, 27 assists) in nine games. French factored in on five of Oakville's six markers (three goals, two assists) Sunday... Keyan McQueen had two goals and five assists in Game 4, while French had four goals and three helpers. Eddie Renaud scored twice, with singles going to Pat Shea, Watkinson and O'Donnell... Andrew Kew scored a goal and added five helpers Friday, when McQueen and O'Donnell tallied twice. Jake Nyhuus, Renaud, Watkinson and French also scored. mid-summer sale 1 DAY ONLY! SATURDAY, JULY 26 off our regular prices on almost High Efficiency FURNACE & CENTRAL AIR AIRE ONE MADNEss sAlE!
