On Saturday, an 8-1 win over Detroit Star put the Oakville squad in the quarterfinal for a rematch with Detroit Nexed Snipers. Oakville bounced back magnifi cently from their previous loss to win 4-3 in overtime. The semifinals brought Oakville up against the Toronto Red Wings Tour Powerhouse -- and they lived up to their name with a convincing 9-1 win. ___ Toronto went on lo beat the previ ously undefeated St. Louis 89 Tour Blasters 6-5 for the tourney champi onship. St. Louis is one of the top teams in the U.S. Making the sem i's is quite an accomplishment considering there were 12 teams in the U-13 age brack et. Oakville is playing Brampton this weekend and expects to see the best local teams as well as a few U .S. teams. The varsity U-20 team lost their home opener last Friday night, at Nelson Stadium in Burlington, 1710. Matt Hilton pushed through the Invictas' lone major. Quarterback James Michener kicked the single point conversion as well as a field goal. The Invictas. comprised primarily of O akville and Burlington football players, are at home again this Friday. 8 p.m., hosting the Brampton Bulldogs. The junior varsity Invictas, who held their home opener last Sunday at Nelson Stadium in Burlington, also lost a close one. 17-13. The Invictas lost their starting quarterback in the first five minutes of play. Pat Gabois is out of the line up indefinitely with a compound fracture to his ankle. Brandon Byers and Todd Arruda scored Halton's touchdowns with Sean M cClelland kicking the extra point. The junior Invictas are on the road this Friday in Guelph.
