DEVILLE D'ELEGANCE -21,880 rv a v / Town council has approved the naming of Prince Michael Drive, in the Herak subdivision, and which runs north from North Ridge Trail to Dundas Street, immediately west of the Original Garden Centre. The various stops in town are of interest to the prince because of his involvement with charita ble work and while the prince's stop at Town Hall is the only one open to the public, residents are welcome to watch his vehicle procession at its various other stops. The prince's visit to Ontario will allow him to retrace steps made by his father in World War II. And, although Oakville was n't an official stop on his father Prince George's passage through Canada, the prince wanted to visit here. While this year marks the 50th anniversary of the Queen's reign, the prince's visit isn't part of the monarch's Golden Jubilee program. Bom in 1942 in Iver, Buckinghamshire, the prince studied at Eton, belonged to the Royal Military Academy, and was commissioned into the 11th Hussars. In 1972. he was British bob sleigh champion and in 1978 married Baroness MarieChristine von Reibnitz and later had two children. Lord Frederick and Lady Gabriel la. A cousin to the queen, the prince, is also related, through his grandmother, to Tsar Nicholas II. His godfather was former U.S. president Franklin D. Roosevelt and his father. Prince George, was the fourth son of George V while his mother. Princess Marina, was the daugh ter of Prince Nicholas o f Greece and Grand Duchess Helen Vladimirovana of Russia. The prince is a cousin to both the Queen and her consort, the Duke of Edinburgh, and was a page at their wedding. He was eighth in line to the throne at the time o f his birth, however, under law. he had to renounce his right of succession following his marriage because his wife is Catholic.
