"Exam Cram distills the material into a simple model to show students what they need to know," he added. It seems Andrews isn't the only one confident in the ven ture. He was recently awarded the Summer Company Award by the Province of Ontario. The award was based on the business idea, a comprehensive business plan and the results of a presen tation and interview by a judges' panel. But Andrews hasn't been working alone on Exam Cram. He has received much assistance from fellow tutor and friend Kunal Phalpher, whom he also worked with at the Kumon Educational Institute. Phalpher also tutors and has helped Andrews to advertise and pro mote the business. As for the cost to register in Exam Cram, it's S I20 per stu dent. This includes the 16 hours of tutoring, a review textbook written by Andrews and Phalpher, as well as help outside of class by e-mail and phone. Each session will include two 75-minute les sons, a one-hour tutorial for helping students individually, and two breaks. To register for Exam Cram, call Andrews at 905-845-5268 or send an e-mail to examcram2002 @hotmail .com. call. Called Exam Cram, the 16hour course examines the mate rial students will need to know for the finals. Each course is taught over the span of two weekends in June, for four hours each day. "The entire course is taught from an exam perspective," said the former Oakville Trafalgar High School (OTHS) student, who said his first year of univer sity has been of benefit to his teaching techniques. "I've learned how to break things down really well so you can understand it more easily." While this is the first year for Exam Cram, Andrews isn't new to the teaching scene. In Grade 10 he began responding to news paper advertisements looking for math tutors. His tutoring experience isn't limited to the Oakville area, however. This year at Queen's, he was appointed to the position of EngLinks co-ordinator for the tutoring program in the school's applied science department. As for the advantage of tak ing Exam Cram over traditional studying methods. Andrews said he has contacted math teachers at different schools to find out what concepts will be on the exams.
