Athletiques members medal at provincial Legion meet Kalysa Chambers narrowly missed qualifying for the national Legion track-and-field championships, finishing second at the recent provincial meet in Brampton. Chambers, a first-year track athlete who trains with Athletiques International, had a mis-step on the first hurdle but still managed to finish a close second to 300-metre hurdles champion Xahria Santiago. Sam Villa cleared a personal-best 1.70 metres in the under-15 boys' high jump, earning bronze in a jumpoff. Also winning bronze with a seasonal-best performance was Jacob Turk, who was third in the under-17 boys' javelin with a throw of 50.91m. Other Athletiques members to compete at pro- vincials included Abby Bolton, Hayley Latham and Daniel Hughes. Jacob McLean, 16, missed the Ontario meet due to a family vacation.
