Also on the Alliston team were Chris Oakes, Bill McMahon and Norm Cook. McAlister's rink led by two heading into the eighth and final end. but without the hammer. Tamowski. throwing skip rocks, for McAlister had to pick Elder's shot rock. But instead o f knocking it completely out of the house he moved it over for second shot. The shot rock belonging to McAlister was buried behind one o f Elder's guards. Elder needed two to tie the game and his only shot was to attempt a raise takeout on the shot rock by using his guard. Elder made a perfect shot and now it was into an extra end for the cham pionship. In the extra end. McAlister was lying one and Elder on his final shot attempted to tap the shot rock but his rock `picked' and slid off course. McAlister did not have to throw his last rock and won 6-5. The other event winners were: (Consolation) Goldline (consolation) event won by H.E. MacDonald. Cataraqui Curling Club, with a win over Bruce Shurtleff. Dundas Valley Golf & Country Club. (Second event) Molson's (2nd) event won by Don Lindsay. Goderich Curling Club, with a win over Doug Woods of Simcoe Curling Club. (Third event) Oakville Beaver (3rd) event won by Doug Bushey. Avonlea Curling Club, with a win over Bill Bennett. Bradford Curling Club. (Fourth event) Stoneboats (4th) event won by Brian Moore, Utica Curling Club with a win over Grant Fletcher of Pakenham Curling Club.
