Oakville defeated England's St. Ambrose as well as the Combined Antiguan Schools. The club was also competitive in losses to the Barbados Cricket League, Foundation of Barbados, Queen's Park Cricket Club, Dominican Combined Schools and the eventual champions Powergen of Trinidad. Top performers on the tour were Denniel Griffiths (225 runs with an average of 45) and Giovanni Hosang (11 wickets at an average of 17.3 and an economy rate of 3.65). Both were invited to a Master Class coaching session with legendary West Indian Sir Garfield Sobers and Charlie Griffiths. Oakville Gymnastics Club power tumblers Sean Robertson and Ben Senior recently finished first and second, respectively, in the 17-plus division at the Indo Pacific Championships in Sun City, South Africa. Robertson earned 91.40 points while Senior recorded 86. The nearest competitor to the OGC duo was Jacob Tier, one of four South Africans who rounded out the division, with 78.60 points. "The goal was basically for (Robertson and Senior) to do their passes, land on their feet, and whatever happens happens," said Niki Rowland, the OGC's co-director of power tumbling. Rowland said the South Africans have a growing tumbling program, but lack consistency. She was more concerned with how Robertson and Senior performed than how they placed. "The venue was a bit strange, spot lighting, things to get used to," said Rowland. "They were able to see they can overcome... things they can't change. That was a big breakthrough for both of them, focusing on what they can control and ignoring all the external factors." The Indo Pacific Championships are open to countries that border the Pacific Ocean. Australia, New Zealand and Namibia also sent athletes to the event. Following the championships, Senior and Rowland remained in South Africa for several days to participate in an outreach program inspiring the youth of Mahikeng to participate in sport. "It was a life-changing experience, for sure," said Rowland, who, along with Senior, donated arts supplies and toys to a pre-school. "Gymnastics Canada asked us to participate, and we didn't hesitate."
