If you've ever asked yourself, `Is there an honest person left out there?' take heart, Oakville appears to be just teeming with them. Just ask Rose Ting. The Oakville resident popped into the TD bank at Upper Middle Road and Eighth Line on her way to Toronto last Friday morning. Ting said she stopped at the bank around 9:15 where she hur riedly made deposits and did other business. In the midst of it all, she pressed the button `Yes' to withdraw $60 in cash. It wasn't until she was at a meeting in Toronto later that morning and reached for her wal let to pay for coffee that she real ized she didn't have the $60. In her haste, she had apparently for gotten to scoop it out of the ATM. Later that afternoon. Ting went back to the same bank to pay a bill and decided she'd ask if anyone had turned in the cash. One teller consulted another and soon it was discovered that, indeed, an honest person had turned over the money. Ting said that when she made a comment to the teller about there being an honest person in Oakville, she said the tellers exchanged happy glances and assured her there was more than one such person in town. Apparently, a woman found Ting's money in the ATM. but wasn't going into the bank where she could return it. so she handed it over to a second woman, who was waiting for the bank to open rather than doing ATM business. After the cash changed hands several times, it did. in fact, find its way back to the bank and back into Ting's pocket. "I'd like to say 'thank-you' to those two phantom women." said Ting.
