Bishop, Muriel (Birthday: 100)
- Full Text
Trafalgar Lodge resident Muriel Bishop celebrated her 100th birthday earlier this month. Muriel was born in London, England on April 9, 1914. She grew up there, spending summers at the seaside with her cousins. Muriel won a scholarship to Godolphin and Latimer Girls' School where she completed her education and then worked as a legal secretary in London. During the Second World War, she met Peter Bishop, a young officer from Canada, and they were later married. Once the war was over, they moved to Canada and worked in Toronto before having one daughter, Judith, and moving to Oakville in 1953. Muriel worked as a legal secretary for Canada Trust and enjoyed gardening -- winning many prizes for her flowers as an active member of the Oakville Horticultural Society.
