A 2 - The Oakville Beaver, W e d n e s d a y F e b ru a ry 5, 2003 New date set for Spelling Bee registration Organizers of the Oakville Spelling Bee have rescheduled the final registration for the competition at the Oakville Place Mall, on Thursday from 5 - 9 p.m. Another registration date was set after last Friday's registration at Oakville Place was interrupt ed by a small fire in the maintenance room at 7 p.m. While the fire was immediately contained and extinguished through the mail's automatic sprinkler system, customers and staff were evacuated for about an hour. The Spelling Bee competition will be divided into four age categories: Primary. 6-7; Junior, 8-9; Intermediate, 10-11; and Senior, 12-13 - ages as of Dec. 31,2002. Registration costs $20, and parents are asked to bring birth certificates or other proof of age when registering their children. Contestants will be notified of coaching and workshops starting in February, the preliminary rounds in April and May, and national championship in June.
