Malabar eyes federal Liberal seat in Oakville Oakville lawyer Jennifer Malabar is in the race to become the next federal Liberal candidate for the Oakville riding. The wife and mother is also a founding member of the Oakville Be a Donor campaign, which seeks to raise awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation. Malabar said she does not like the direction this country is taking and would like to see it change. "Over the last several months, I have been honoured to meet and speak with hundreds of Oakville residents, listening to their dreams for themselves, their children and this country," she said in a press release. "I know that Stephen Harper's Conservatives do not reflect our core Canadian values of integrity, compassion and equity. These are my values and I will be a tireless advocate, working to leave all of our children a better Canada." Malabar has received the support of numerous local leaders including LaserNetworks founder Chris Stoate, Cycle Oakville co-founder Pam Damoff and Social Justice Advocate and Governor General's Award recipient Bev LeFrancois. As Crown Counsel with the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, Malabar said, she has prosecuted hundreds of health and safety, environmental and criminal matters on behalf of Ontarians. She said she understands the important role she plays in ensuring that citizens are kept safe and that people and corporations who ignore laws are held accountable. In addition to her full-time job, since 2012, Malabar has acted as a part-time instructor at Sheridan College in its Paralegal Program. The Oakville woman was recently named as one of United Way of Oakville's GenNext: Top 20 Under 40. Malabar also regularly donates her time to fundraising events, conducting public speaking engagements and mentoring youths. 5 | Friday, August 15, 2014 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Jennifer Malabar An Evening with CharterAbility will be held at the Oakville Power Boat Club, 150 Water St., Saturday, Sept. 6.
