The Canadian Club where he served as the Association's National President, The Canadian Country Music Association serving as Co-chair of the Canadian Country Music Awards in 1996, Chair of the Burlington Canada Day Committee for five years and chairing the Oakville Chamber of Commerce's Marketing Task Force until recently. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Bach Elgar Choir and is a past president of Hamilton's Gallery of Distinction. Smith, who paints primarily in watercolor, is known for his scenes of Oakville and the surrounding country side. One of his last projects was to cap ture, in a series of paintings, some of the area's bams before they succumbed to Oakville's ever spreading housing developments. Along with landscapes painted local ly and in various parts of the country, from Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia to Long Beach on Vancouver Island, he has also painted a number of local his toric buildings and has released his paintings of Oakville's two harbours, and two downtown street scenes as lim ited edition prints. Smith's work can now be found in corporate and private collections in Canada and abroad. With the moving truck arriving soon, Smith will beholding a sale of his work on Saturday and Sunday, March 9 and 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the studio of the Oakville Art Society located at 560 Bronte Road at Speers Road. As a thank you to all who visit the show he will be giving out a suite of pen and ink drawings, while quantities last of course, and will be reducing the prices on all his original paintings and limited edition prints.
