Jason Cyneath Lynch, of Grays Road, in Hamilton was charged with impaired driving and having over 80 mgs of alco hol in 100 ml of blood and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 13. The Oakville Beaver has agreed to publish the names of those charged. During Week 1 of the Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program, which runs throughout Halton during December, a total of 6,735 vehi cles were stopped. Thirty-seven roadside screening device tests were conducted and 13 12-hour licence suspensions were issued. Twenty Highway Traffic Act charges were filed and 107 warn ings/cautions were issued. Police trace prank 911 calls to cell phones Halton Regional Police are investigating two serious prank 911 calls which summoned officers to a pair of false gun incidents. According to investigators, both calls were sent from cell phones by individuals claiming "gunmen were on the loose." The first incident occurred just before 7 p.m. on Dec. 3 when police were called anonymously about a man with a gun in a restaurant on Iroquois Shore Road. Officers rushed to the sctjne, but quickly determined it was a hoax. Just before midnight on Dec. 5. police were again summoned by cell phone to investigate a report of a person with a gun at Maple Grove Village mall. Yet again they estab lished it was a hoax. Police have traced and identified both cellular phones that made the calls and officers have contacted the subscribers of both phones. At press time the investigation continued. Halton Regional Police are reminding the public that it is a criminal offense to falsely report that a crime has been committed.
