B8 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday December 26, 2003 Earn Duke of Edinburgh with Junior Achievement Junior Achievement of South Central Ontario (JASCO) has established a work ing relationship with The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DEA), the International Award for Young People. JASCO will be promoting the DEA pro gram to schools as another opportunity for youth to challenge themselves and give them the edge they need when enter ing the workforce. The Award can be completed in conjunction with, or as an extension of JA programs. "We are very enthusiastic about intro ducing the DEA among our student net work. The programs complement one another wonderfully and it really makes sense for our participants to leverage their accomplishments towards achieving the award," stated Sue Suess, Vice -President of Operations at JASCO. "Students face the significant chal lenge of preparing for a rapidly changing economy in our competitive business environment, and there is no question that being involved in both programs will give youth a unique advantage in today's job market. Through our innovative and interactive programs, we help young peo ple learn first hand how to set up a busi ness, determine a product or service, cap italize, produce, market and sell a prod uct," added Suess. "We are delighted that JASCO will be encouraging high school students to par ticipate in the DEA program. The com pletion of both programs will certainly add impact to award participants' resumes when they are ready to enter the workforce," said Jill Hermant, Executive Director, DEA.
